Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs meets Lieutenant Governor in Srinagar
Srinagar, June 23: The Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs, led by Chairman Shashi Tharoor, met with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Lok Bhavan in Srinagar today.
The meeting took place during the committee’s four-day study visit to the Union Territories of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh to assess regional developments and security.During the interaction, Shashi Tharoor shared details about the committee’s recent engagements, which included visits to border areas in Jammu and the Regional Passport Office, as well as extensive discussions with senior Army officials in Srinagar.
Committee members shared their observations from the tour and discussed various regional issues with the Lieutenant Governor.Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha briefed the delegation on the socio-economic transformation and developmental progress achieved in Jammu Kashmir over the past six years.
He highlighted the significant improvements in the security environment, noting that the region has experienced a remarkable transformation since August 2019, characterized by uninterrupted normal life and renewed public optimism.
He also emphasized the various infrastructure and development projects currently underway that continue to drive economic growth and enhance the quality of life across the Union Territory.
