Omar Abdullah chairs high level PMGSY review meeting to accelerate rural road connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir

SRINAGAR, June 23, 2026 :- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired a high-level review meeting today to evaluate the implementation and progress of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana across Jammu and Kashmir.

The session focused primarily on expediting ongoing works, enhancing rural road connectivity, and resolving various administrative bottlenecks that delay project execution. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, along with additional chief secretaries from mining, public works, forest, ecology, and environment departments, alongside other senior officials who provided comprehensive briefings on newly sanctioned works and the structural roadmap for pending road and bridge projects.

Stressing the transformative power of all-weather roads in improving the quality of life within remote areas, the Chief Minister instructed all concerned departments to execute sanctioned works promptly while maintaining strict quality standards. He highlighted the necessity for seamless inter-departmental coordination to fast-track statutory and procedural clearances, urging regular monitoring at all levels to prevent unnecessary delays.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister reviewed the upcoming strategy for the fourth phase of the scheme, directing authorities to accelerate preparatory procedures so that connectivity can be extended efficiently to eligible rural and border habitations on a priority basis.
