Anantnag Police seize over 166 kg of narcotics in major anti-drug operation
ANANTNAG, APRIL 27: Anantnag Police achieved a major breakthrough in their ongoing campaign against drug trafficking today by recovering more than 166 kilograms of narcotics and arresting four key suspects.
During routine operations and acting on specific intelligence, officers seized 110 kilograms of Ganja from a vehicle at Shalgam Crossing and arrested Nazir Ahmad Khatana.
A separate raid conducted with a search warrant at a residence in Watrigam Dialgam led to the recovery of 51 kilograms of a substance suspected to be charas from the home of Mohd Rafiq Itoo.The enforcement drive continued with the apprehension of Rayees Ahmad Shah at Sakhras Crossing, where five kilograms of charas powder were found in his possession.
Additionally, a drug peddler was intercepted at Doodnad Waghama with 170 grams of charas and 18,700 rupees in cash. Police have registered multiple cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Srigufwara, Dialgam, and Bijbehara stations to facilitate further investigations into these networks.
These successful seizures are part of the broader Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan and the 100 Days Campaign aimed at eradicating drug abuse in the region. Anantnag Police have reiterated their firm commitment to dismantling the drug trade and continue to urge the public to assist by sharing information regarding narcotics activities.
Authorities emphasized that these arrests of significant players in the local trade represent a vital step toward ensuring a drug-free community.
