DIG Rajouri Poonch Range Reviews Security and Hosts Public Outreach Programs in Poonch
Poonch, 26th April 2026:-Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Rajouri–Poonch Range, Sandeep Wazir, conducted a comprehensive official visit to District Poonch to evaluate the current security landscape and enhance the bond between the police and the local community.
Accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police Shafket Hussain and other senior officials, the DIG organized public darbars at the Mandi and Loran police stations. These interactions allowed residents to voice their grievances and developmental concerns directly to high-ranking officials.
In response, the DIG issued immediate instructions to the relevant officers to ensure that these issues are addressed in a prompt and time-bound manner, reinforcing the department’s focus on community-oriented policing.Beyond addressing local concerns, the visit served as a platform to conduct a rigorous review of the regional security framework.
The DIG emphasized the necessity of a robust border security grid and the importance of seamless intelligence sharing to stay ahead of emerging threats. Officers were instructed to maintain a high state of alertness and implement proactive strategies to uphold law and order effectively.
The DIG noted that the cooperation of the public is a fundamental pillar in maintaining peace and harmony, urging citizens to act as partners with the police in identifying and curbing anti-social activities within the district.The visit also highlighted the social responsibilities of the police force, particularly regarding the fight against narcotics.
During the public interactions, officials educated the community on the devastating impacts of drug abuse and promoted the goals of the Nasha Mukht Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan. The DIG made a special appeal to the youth, encouraging them to reject drugs and instead contribute to the development of a healthy, drug-free society.
