CM Omar Abdullah Inaugurates Major Infrastructure and Healthcare Projects in Nowshera Rajouri
NOWSHERA, APRIL 20: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah conducted an extensive tour of the Nowshera region in Rajouri today, where he inaugurated a major road project and an upgraded 100-bedded hospital to strengthen regional connectivity and healthcare.
Accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary and Health Minister Sakeena Itoo, the Chief Minister opened the upgraded NH-144A Bridge to Nowshera town road, completed at a cost of ₹7.99 crore, and the Sub-District Hospital, developed for ₹18.18 crore.
During his inspection of the medical facility, he interacted with staff and patients to ensure the quality of services in the new X-ray, ECG, and blood storage units.
Addressing a large public gathering, the Chief Minister emphasized that his administration’s priority is to improve the quality of life through better infrastructure and employment opportunities, while also reaffirming his commitment to the regularization of daily wagers and the restoration of statehood for Jammu and Kashmir.
In addition to the inaugurations, Chief Minister Abdullah reviewed the progress of the Sungal Tunnel project, a 2.79 km tunnel across the Kalidhar Range being executed by Project Sampark of the Border Roads Organisation. Officials briefed the Chief Minister that the project is on track for completion by June 30 this year and will reduce travel time by approximately 45 minutes.
During the event, Health Minister Sakeena Itoo announced the establishment of a new Government Degree College at Seri block, further expanding educational access in the area.
The visit concluded with the Chief Minister expressing his gratitude for the warm public reception, noting that the aspirations of the Pir Panjal region will remain central to the government’s policy decisions and its mission to ensure balanced development across the Union Territory.
