Inter-District Drug Peddler Arrested with Heroin in Udhampur’s Majalta Area

UDHAMPUR, April 14, 2026 — In a significant move under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, the Udhampur Police arrested an inter-district drug smuggler and seized nearly 22 grams of heroin at a checkpoint in Majalta.

A police team stationed at the Battal Naka intercepted a Wagon-R traveling from Ramkot and, upon searching the driver, identified as Aqib Asharf of District Anantnag, discovered 21.97 grams of the illicit substance.

The police have taken the suspect into custody and registered a case under the NDPS Act at the Majalta Police Station.

Authorities are currently conducting a follow-up investigation to uncover further details regarding the smuggling network as part of their broader mission to eradicate the drug trade in the region.
