Ladakh Air Connectivity Surges as LG Announces Major Boost in Flight Operations for Tourist Season
LEH, APR 5: In a significant move to bolster regional tourism and accessibility, the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, announced a substantial increase in air connectivity as the peak tourist season commences.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the LG revealed that concerted administrative efforts have led to a dramatic rise in daily flight operations at Leh Airport.
As of April 2, the number of daily flights has jumped from 8 to 18, linking the high-altitude region to major Indian hubs including Delhi, Mumbai, Srinagar, and Chandigarh.
This expansion is set to grow further, with two additional flights expected to begin operations shortly, offering travelers enhanced flexibility and convenience.LG Saxena emphasized that this strategic boost in aviation infrastructure is designed to drive higher tourist footfall, which in turn will revitalize the local economy and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for residents.
By positioning Ladakh as a more accessible and sought-after destination, the administration aims to showcase the region’s unique appeal to a global audience.
Inviting travelers to explore the territory, the LG characterized Ladakh as “mystical, magical, and spiritual,” promising visitors an unforgettable experience in the heart of the Himalayas.
