Budget Session 2026: CM Omar Abdullah Announces Power Restoration in Pahalgam and New Tourism Initiatives for Tral
JAMMU, MARCH 30, 2026 — Addressing the Legislative Assembly during the ongoing Budget Session 2026, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah confirmed the full restoration of normal power supply in the Pahalgam constituency following intensive, round-the-clock technical repairs at the Gopalpora Grid Sub-Station.
Responding to a Calling Attention Motion by MLA Altaf Ahmed Wani, the Chief Minister detailed how a 50 MVA transformer failure—triggered by severe January snowfall—was mitigated by the rapid installation of a spare unit, effectively ending the emergency load shedding that had previously impacted the region.
Shifting focus to regional development during Question Hour, the Chief Minister also outlined a strategic roadmap to transform Tral into a premier destination through enhanced tourism infrastructure and heritage preservation.
Key projects, including the construction of tourist cafeterias at Faiz Panah and the revival of the Shikargah facilitation center, are being executed under the CAPEX Budget to boost the local economy while safeguarding the area’s ecological and cultural integrity.
