Pulwama Police Crack Down on Illegal Mining: Heavy Machinery Seized in Litter Raid

PULWAMA, March 30,2026 — Intensifying its campaign against the unlawful extraction of natural resources, the Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted a successful high-profile raid in the Litter area of Pulwama on Monday.

During the operation, a specialized team from the Litter Police Station intercepted and seized heavy machinery being used for the illegal mining of minerals from the Rambiara Nallah.

The seized equipment included a JCB (Chassis No. HAR3DXS4E03277873) and two dumpers (Registration Nos. JK13K-2574 and JK13G-7958), all of which were caught in the act of unauthorized extraction and transportation.

This move is part of a broader departmental strategy to preserve the region’s ecological balance and prevent the depletion of public property.

Following the seizure, authorities have officially registered FIR No. 37/2026 at the Litter Police Station under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 3 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

The Pulwama Police have reiterated their “zero-tolerance” policy regarding environmental crimes, warning potential violators that strict legal consequences will follow any further attempts at illegal mining.

Law enforcement officials have also reached out to the local community, soliciting public cooperation to help identify and curb such unlawful activities that threaten the district’s natural landscape.
