Ganderbal Police Launch Premier Football Tournament to Empower Local Youth
GANDERBAL, March 30,2026 — In a major push to foster sportsmanship and community engagement, the Jammu and Kashmir Police officially inaugurated the Police Premier Football Tournament on Monday at the Government Physical Education College Stadium in Gadoora.
Organized under the Civic Action Program (CAP), the event was formally kicked off by SSP Ganderbal, Khalil Ahmad Poswal-JKPS, in the presence of senior officials including Principal Dr. Showkat Hussain and DySP Hqrs Ganderbal, Shri Umer Urfan-JKPS.
The tournament features 16 teams from across the district, highlighting a massive surge in athletic interest among the local youth. The opening match between FC Manigam and Comrade FC set an energetic tone for the competition, drawing spectators and sports enthusiasts from across the region.
During the inaugural ceremony, SSP Khalil Ahmad Poswal emphasized that the primary goal of the tournament is to promote discipline, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle while providing a professional platform for young talent to showcase their skills.
By channeling the energy of the youth into constructive sporting avenues, the J&K Police aim to strengthen police-public relations and steer the younger generation away from negative influences.
