Jammu Rural Police Attach Property of 3 Absconding Murder Accused in Khour Following Court Orders
KHOUR /JAMMU March 29,2026— In a stern execution of legal authority, the Jammu Rural Police on Saturday carried out the formal attachment of immovable properties belonging to three individuals who have been evading justice for nearly three decades.
Acting on specific directions from the court issued on February 28, 2026, the police initiated the takeover of land and assets in the Khour area linked to a high-profile murder case registered in 1996.
The move signals a clear message from the judiciary and law enforcement that the passage of time will not grant immunity to those fleeing the law.The enforcement action pertains to FIR No. 03/1996, registered under Section 302 of the RPC at the Khour Police Station.
The absconding accused have been identified as Rattan Lal (alias Kaku), Dharam Paul, and Kamla Devi—all residents of Chak Malal village in Tehsil Khour. Despite being wanted for thirty years, the trio has remained untraceable, prompting the court to order the attachment of their properties under Khasra Nos. 660 and 661.
A coordinated team of Jammu Rural Police and local revenue officials, including the area Patwari, arrived at Chak Malal to execute the proceedings with full transparency.
To ensure the community was legally informed, officials used traditional “drum beating” to make public announcements and affixed formal attachment notices to the residences of the accused.
Police officials emphasized that this operation was conducted strictly according to legal protocols, reinforcing the administration’s resolve to hold long-term fugitives accountable for their alleged crimes.
