Jammu Rural Police Arrest Two Bootleggers in Manwal; Illicit Liquor and Vehicle Seized

JAMMU, March 29,2026 — In a persistent crackdown on the illegal liquor trade, the Jammu Rural Police successfully apprehended two individuals and recovered a consignment of illicit spirits in the Manwal region on March 29, 2026.

Acting on credible intelligence, a specialized team from Police Post Manwal established a strategic checkpoint (naka) at Zedda Manwal to intercept potential smugglers operating under the jurisdiction of the Jhajjar Kotli Police Station.

During the operation, officers intercepted a vehicle with registration number DL 9CAR-7687 traveling from Battal Dhar toward Udhampur. The occupants were identified as Anil Kumar, son of Kishan Chand, and Irshad Ahmed, son of Akhalak Ahmed, both residents of North West Delhi.

Upon a thorough search of the vehicle, police discovered 14 bottles of “All Seasons” liquor. When the suspects failed to produce a valid permit or legal documentation for the transport of the alcohol, they were immediately taken into custody and their vehicle was impounded.

Following the arrest, a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 37/2026 at the Jhajjar Kotli Police Station, citing Section 48(a) of the Excise Act. This successful intervention underscores the Jammu Rural Police’s commitment to curbing the flow of unauthorized liquor across state and district lines.

A detailed investigation is currently underway to determine if the duo is part of a larger bootlegging syndicate operating between Delhi and the Union Territory.
