Udhampur Police Arrest Inter-District Drug Peddler; Heroin Seized from Passenger Cab at Chenani
UDHAMPUR, March 29,2026— In a continued and relentless crackdown on the narcotics trade, the Udhampur Police successfully apprehended an inter-district drug peddler and recovered a significant quantity of heroin during a high-vigilance “naka” checking operation at Chenani.
The arrest, which took place on March 29, 2026, at the Motor Shed on the National Highway (NHW), highlights the intensified security measures currently in place to intercept the transport of illicit substances across district boundaries.
The operation was initiated by a specialized team from the Chenani Police Station while performing routine traffic duties. Officers signaled a passenger vehicle (Registration No. JK01AV-4082) traveling from Udhampur toward Kashmir to stop for inspection.
During a thorough search of the passengers, police recovered 6.02 grams of heroin from an individual identified as Mohd Suhail Lone, son of Wali Mohd Lone and a resident of Delina, Baramulla.
When questioned, the suspect was unable to provide a legal or satisfactory explanation for possessing the contraband, leading to his immediate arrest and the seizure of the narcotics.
Following the recovery, a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 50/2026, citing sections 8, 21, and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Chenani Police Station.
This arrest follows a string of successful narcotics seizures by the Udhampur Police, reinforcing their commitment to a “Drug-Free Jammu & Kashmir.”
A detailed investigation is currently underway to determine the broader network of suppliers and intended recipients involved in this inter-district trafficking route.
