AMRITSAR, PUNJAB, March 29,2026 — In a major breakthrough against organized crime and cross-border security threats, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police successfully intercepted an illegal arms consignment during a high-alert “naka-bandi” (security checkpoint) operation.

The recovery included two sophisticated 9mm sub-machine guns and an empty magazine, marking a significant success for local law enforcement in preventing potential violence.

Preliminary investigations have already established a direct link between this seizure and the notorious gangster Gurpreet Singh, alias Goldy Dhillon, suggesting that the weapons were destined for high-profile criminal and anti-national activities across Punjab.

Following the seizure, an FIR has been registered at the Chheharta Police Station under the relevant provisions of the Arms Act. Police officials have launched an intensive manhunt to apprehend the absconding accused individuals involved in the transport of the weaponry.

Investigators are currently working to trace the supply chain and dismantle the broader network responsible for funneling prohibited arms into the state, aiming to neutralize any further threats to public safety

.The Punjab Police have reiterated their “zero-tolerance” policy regarding illegal arms trafficking and organized crime. This operation underscores the department’s commitment to maintaining a secure environment and pre-emptively striking against elements that seek to destabilize the region.

Authorities have indicated that further disclosures are expected as the investigation dives deeper into the logistical support provided to the Dhillon gang.
