Udhampur Police Apprehend Inter-District Drug Peddler; Heroin Seized at Tikri Checkpoint
UDHAMPUR, JAMMU & KASHMIR — In a successful crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Udhampur Police arrested an inter-district drug peddler and recovered a quantity of heroin during a routine security check at Tikri.
The operation, conducted on March 29, 2026, is part of an intensified campaign by regional authorities to disrupt the supply chains of prohibited substances moving across district lines.
The arrest occurred when a vigilant police team from Police Post (PP) Tikri, engaged in traffic monitoring, spotted a man approaching on foot from the Jammu side. Noticing the individual’s suspicious behavior upon seeing the police presence, officers intercepted him for questioning.
The suspect was subsequently identified as Ishaq Ahmed, son of Shamas Ud Din and a resident of Bhroon Bijarni in the Doda district.Upon conducting a thorough personal search, police recovered 5.16 grams of heroin concealed in a transparent plastic pack within the suspect’s trouser pocket.
The contraband was immediately seized, and the accused was taken into custody on the spot. Following the recovery, a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 64/2026, citing sections 8, 21, and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Rehambal Police Station.
Authorities have confirmed that a deeper investigation is currently underway to trace the origin and intended destination of the seized drugs.
