Shopian Police Attach Residential Property Valued at ₹18.88 Lakh Linked to Narcotics Trade
SHOPIAN, March 28, 2026 — Intensifying its crackdown on the illegal drug menace, the Shopian Police today attached a single-storey residential house belonging to a known offender in the Barbugh Imamsahib area.
The property, valued at approximately ₹18,88,000, belongs to Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday and was identified by investigators as being acquired through the illicit proceeds of narcotics trafficking.
This significant legal action was taken under the provisions of the law in connection with case FIR No. 02/2026 registered at Police Station Imamsahib, marking a major step in dismantling the financial infrastructure of local drug peddlers.
The attachment process was executed with strict adherence to legal protocols, conducted in the presence of a specially constituted police team, an Executive Magistrate, and local village officials including the Lambardar and Chowkidar.
By targeting the assets of those involved in the drug trade, the Shopian Police aim to send a strong deterrent message to others involved in such criminal activities.
