UDHAMPUR, Feb 14: A specialized two-week advanced training course on Counter Improvised Explosive Devices (CIED), conducted by elite instructors from the National Security Guard (NSG), successfully concluded today with an impressive valedictory ceremony at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur (SKPAU).

The program, which aimed to bolster the operational readiness of Jammu & Kashmir’s security apparatus, saw the participation of 53 officers and officials drawn from Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS) across all J&K districts, Government Railway Police (GRP), and Police Control Rooms (PCR) in both Jammu and Kashmir.

SSP Benam Tosh, Deputy Director of SKPAU, presided over the closing function in the presence of Assistant Director (Outdoor) Pawan Sharma and other senior officials, where he distributed certificates to the participants and presented mementos to the NSG faculty in recognition of their expert guidance.

The intensive curriculum, delivered by a specialist team from the NSG Training Centre in Manesar, Haryana, was designed to enhance the technical proficiency of police personnel in managing high-risk explosive threats. Throughout the fortnight, trainees engaged in comprehensive modules covering the identification, detection, and neutralization of IEDs and other hazardous substances.

The course went beyond theoretical instruction, incorporating rigorous practical demonstrations, hands-on exercises, and simulated real-time scenarios. Participants were also trained in critical post-blast investigation techniques and the latest Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure maximum safety and efficiency during field operations.

In his valedictory address, Deputy Director Benam Tosh commended the NSG faculty for imparting high-quality professional training and praised the participants for their dedication and keen interest. He emphasized that such advanced training initiatives are vital for strengthening counter-terrorism preparedness and ensuring public safety, particularly in light of current and emerging security challenges.
