Director Agriculture Kashmir Inspects Padgampora Seed Farm; Focuses on Vegetable Seed Self-Reliance

SRINAGAR, February 06, 2026 — Director Agriculture Kashmir, Sartaj Ahmad Shah, conducted a high-level visit to the Seed Multiplication Farm at Padgampora, Pulwama, to evaluate ongoing activities and the progress of regional seed production initiatives. During the inspection, the Director focused on the vegetable section, scrutinizing field operations, crop management, and quality control measures designed to meet the growing demands of Kashmir’s agricultural sector.

Emphasizing that these departmental farms are the backbone of achieving self-reliance in high-quality seeds, Shah noted their vital role in boosting overall farmer productivity across the valley. Seed Production Officer Mir Ajaz Hassan and Farm Manager Mohammad Munaf Bhat provided technical briefings on infrastructure and current interventions, while the Director urged field staff to implement modern scientific practices in a “mission mode”.

Reaffirming the department’s commitment to upgrading farm infrastructure and post-harvest management, the visit highlighted a strategic push toward sustainable agricultural practices and the timely delivery of certified seeds to the farming community.
