POONCH — July 13, 2026: In response to the evolving security environment and the upcoming Buddha Amarnath Ji Yatra, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) for the Rajouri-Poonch Range, Sandeep Wazir, chaired an extensive crime, intelligence, and security review conference today at the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) office in Mendhar. The high-level meeting evaluated the operational readiness and security preparedness of police forces across the Mendhar Sub-Division. Key attendees included Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch, Shafqat Bhat; Chief Public Prosecutor (CPO) DPO Poonch, Ajmal; SDPO Mendhar, Tauseef Ahmed; alongside local Station House Officers (SHOs), investigating officers, and territorial commanders.
During the session, officials conducted an in-depth analysis of current security trends, intelligence collection infrastructure, local crime rates, anti-terror operations, and tactical deployment strategies for the annual pilgrimage. Field officers briefed the DIG on active intelligence networks, defensive arrangements, and counter-terrorism measures designed to disrupt hostile networks within their jurisdictions. Emphasizing the critical need for sustained vigilance, Wazir directed forces to enhance both human and technical intelligence capabilities, utilize advanced data analysis, and maintain strict coordination across field formations to counter emerging security threats effectively.
