SRI VIJAYA PURAM, JULY 13, 2026 – The Indian Coast Guard, in coordination with the Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC), successfully rescued two fishermen who had been stranded at sea for three days. The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) in Sri Vijaya Puram received a critical distress alert on Monday from the Indian Fishing Boat (IFB) Deep, which was drifting helplessly off the coast of Hut Bay. The vessel and its two-member crew had been adrift since July 10, 2026, after suffering a severe engine failure amid treacherous, rough sea conditions.
In a swift response to the emergency, the Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Rajveer was deployed to execute a targeted search and rescue operation. Working in tandem with an Indian Navy aircraft, the rescue teams successfully located the stranded vessel and brought both fishermen safely aboard. Officials emphasized that the seamless, successful joint operation underscores the unwavering commitment of the Indian Coast Guard and the ANC to safeguarding lives at sea and maintaining robust maritime safety across the region.
