J&K Housing Milestone: 506 Landless Families Allotted Land Under PMAY-G; 435 Cases Pending Review

JAMMU, February 6, 2026 — Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Javid Ahmad Dar, informed the Legislative Assembly today that the Jammu and Kashmir government has successfully allotted 5 marla of land each to 506 landless families under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G). Replying to a query from MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, the Minister stated that an additional 435 cases are currently undergoing verification by Revenue authorities.

Under PMAY-G Phase I, a comprehensive survey has saturated the Permanent Waiting List (PWL) across the Union Territory, ensuring that eligible beneficiaries, including those in the Kulgam district, receive land to begin house construction, which must be completed within one year of sanction.

The Minister also outlined the strategy for urban housing under PMAY-Urban 2.0, noting that while this phase does not provide for land allotment, identified landless families will receive housing support primarily through flats under the Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) vertical. Construction timelines are set at 12–18 months for the Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC) category and 18–24 months for AHP projects.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to transparency, the Minister emphasized that no eligible landless or houseless family would be deprived of their benefits as the administration works to provide shelter in a time-bound manner.
