Jammu ACB Arrests Police ASI for Accepting Bribe to Act on Domestic Harassment Complaint

JAMMU, February 6, 2026 — The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has successfully trapped and arrested Mohinder Lal, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) posted at Police Station Khour, for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹5,000.

The arrest followed a formal complaint lodged by an individual who alleged that the ASI demanded illegal gratification in exchange for taking legal action against his cousin’s husband, who was reportedly subjecting her to regular harassment and physical assault.

Refusing to succumb to the corrupt demand, the complainant approached the ACB, which subsequently registered FIR No. 02/2026 under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

After a discreet verification confirmed the demand, a trap team was organized, catching the officer red-handed as he accepted the marked currency in the presence of independent witnesses.

Following the arrest, the ACB team conducted a thorough search of the accused’s official residence within the Khour Police Station premises under the supervision of a Magistrate.

While the bribe money has been recovered, further investigations are currently underway to ensure full legal accountability.
