Amit Shah Boosts Border Security With ₹250 Crore Infrastructure Projects in Jammu

JAMMU | February 6, 2026 :- Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, reinforced India’s national security framework by visiting the ‘Gurnam’ and ‘Bobiya’ Border Out Posts (BOPs) along the India-Pakistan border on the second day of his Jammu visit. Demonstrating a commitment to those guarding the frontlines, Shah paid tribute to martyrs at the ‘Ajey Prahari’ memorial and inaugurated welfare projects worth ₹7 crore, including solar power plants and essential amenities. Furthermore, he laid the foundation stone for expansive BSF infrastructure developments valued at ₹242 crore. These investments are designed to modernize border facilities and improve the operational living conditions for the personnel who serve in some of the country’s most challenging geographic terrains.

Addressing the gathered troops, Amit Shah described the Border Security Force (BSF) as an “impregnable wall” that has consistently thwarted infiltration and encroachment attempts. He highlighted the historical significance of ‘Operation Sindoor’ and the destruction of 118 enemy posts as evidence of the force’s unwavering courage. Shah announced that the 61st anniversary of the BSF’s establishment will be officially dedicated to modernization and the welfare of jawans and their families. This strategic shift includes the introduction of advanced technology to counter modern threats and a new dedicated welfare scheme under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ensuring that the nation’s “sentinels” are equipped with 21st-century tools.

The Home Minister also took a moment to specifically praise the vital role of women personnel in border security, noting their increasing contribution to national defense. He acknowledged the BSF’s versatility, citing their effective deployment in Maoist-affected regions and their life-saving humanitarian work during natural disasters in Punjab. By sharing lunch with the jawans at the border post, Shah emphasized a message of solidarity and gratitude. With the integration of high-tech surveillance and improved troop facilities, the government aims to reduce the physical hardships of border policing while maintaining a state of high alert against emerging cross-border challenges.
