NIA Conducts High-Stakes Raid at GMC Anantnag Over ‘White Collar’ Terror Module Investigation
SRINAGAR, February 6, 2026 — The National Investigation Agency (NIA) intensified its crackdown on extremist networks on Friday by conducting extensive searches at the Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir.
This operation is a critical follow-up to the “white collar” terror module dismantled in November 2025, which gained notoriety after a rifle was discovered hidden inside a doctor’s locker within the medical facility.
The probe revolves around the activities of Dr. Adeel Ahmad Rather, one of nine individuals previously apprehended in a multi-state investigation that also uncovered a significant cache of explosives in Faridabad, NCR.
While NIA sleuths scrutinized records and premises at the college to trace further links to the module, security forces simultaneously launched a separate cordoned search operation in the Koil Karewa area of Pulwama district following intelligence reports of terrorist movement.
Although no fresh arrests or recoveries were reported during the Pulwama operation, the dual actions underscore a heightened security posture aimed at uprooting clandestine support structures and “white collar” involvement in regional militancy.
