Drass 21st August :- Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Director General of the National Cadet Corps (DGNCC) accompanied by Maj Gen Anupinder Bevli, VSM, ADG JK&L Dte visited 2 Ladakh Battalion NCC, Kargil .
The visit held special significance, as it was the maiden visit of the General Officer to the UT of Ladakh after raising of the 2 Ladakh Bn NCC.The day began with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony organised at the Kargil War Memorial, Dras where Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh paid homage to the soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
The event was marked by the high standard of ceremonial presentation of arms in a poignant tribute to the fallen heroes, by the newly raised NCC Cadets of 2 Ladakh Battalion, NCC.
DGNCC addressed NCC Cadets, Permanent Instructor (PI) Staff, Associate NCC Officers (ANOs), and Heads of Institutions and congratulated them for good enrolment state. He lauded their commitment to community service and nation-building, emphasizing the NCC motto of “Unity and Discipline” and urging all cadets to be self disciplined with never give up attitude. As the cadets from the region are naturally gifted in Mountain & Winter Sports therefore vacancies for adventure training has also been increased.
During his address, Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh informed the gathering that now NCC cadets have been entitled to travel in AC 3 tier while travelling in connection to NCC Camps & various other allowances have also been enhanced. He further highlighted that to align with future requirements, NCC syllabus has been recently revised incorporating Drone & Skill based training.He urged cadets to decide and choose field of their interest & not to be afraid of failure.
One should always remain fit giving due importance to their health and strive to become responsible citizens of the Nation as they all are National Pride. Outstanding NCC Cadets, ANOs and PI Staff were felicitated for their achievements in NCC activities, sports and their exemplary contributions during Operation SINDOOR.The visit of DG NCC proved highly inspiring and motivating for all participants.
