Srinagar Police attach properties worth over one crore belonging to notorious drug peddlers

SRINAGAR, July 9, 2026:- In a major crackdown on the financial infrastructure of narcotics trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, Srinagar Police have attached two immovable properties worth approximately 1.05 crore belonging to two notorious drug peddlers.

The action was carried out by Police Station Rainawari under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, reaffirming the commitment of Jammu and Kashmir Police to dismantle the drug network by targeting assets acquired through illicit narcotics trade. Both properties have been attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act after being identified as illegally acquired assets generated through proceeds of narcotics trafficking and drug peddling.

The first attached property, valued at approximately 65 lakh, belongs to Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh, son of Late Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, resident of Tujgari Mohalla, Nowhatta. The asset comprises a three-storeyed residential house constructed on five marlas of land situated at Tujgari Mohalla, Srinagar, and was frozen in connection with FIR No. 59/2019 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act of Police Station Rainawari.

The accused is also involved in multiple other drug-related offenses, including FIR No. 11/2018 and FIR No. 41/2021 registered at Police Station Nowhatta.The second attached property, valued at approximately 40 lakh, belongs to Bilal Ahmad Kand, son of Ghulam Hyder Kand, resident of Kand Mohalla, Dal, Rainawari. This asset comprises five marlas of land along with a single-storeyed temporary structure erected at Kand Mohalla, Rainawari, and was attached in connection with FIR No. 36/2022 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act of Police Station Rainawari.

By targeting the economic backbone of drug traffickers, Srinagar Police are sending a strong message that crime will not pay and that illegally acquired assets will be traced and confiscated in accordance with the law.

Srinagar Police remain steadfast in their resolve to eradicate the menace of drugs from society and appeal to the public to continue supporting the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan by sharing any information related to drug trafficking or narcotics-related activities, assuring that the identity of informants shall be kept strictly confidential.
