Security forces recover major cache of arms and ammunition in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district

Imphal, August 03, 2026: Security forces recovered a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, and tactical equipment during a targeted cordon and search operation in the high ranges of Makokching Jungle under Saikul Police Station in Kangpokpi district today.

The seized arsenal included one M16 rifle, one Mark III rifle, one sniper rifle, one .22 bolt-action gun, 25 single-barrel guns, and seven pistols. In addition to the firearms, operational teams recovered 76 live rounds of varied calibers, 179 empty shell cases, one rifle magazine, four pumpis, three 36 hand grenades, and 20 detonators.

Communication equipment consisting of four Baofeng radio sets alongside a charger was also confiscated from the site as part of ongoing measures to disarm illegal groups and restore peace in the region.
