Indian Army Conducts Road Safety Awareness Drive on Mughal Road in Poonch
POONCH, August 02, 2026 — In an effort to promote safe driving practices along a challenging mountain corridor, the Indian Army organised a road safety awareness lecture at the Poshana Check Post on July 31. The initiative targeted commuters traveling along the strategic Mughal Road, which serves as a critical transport link connecting Poonch district with Srinagar. Given the route’s steep gradients, sharp bends, and unpredictable weather conditions, the road has historically seen numerous traffic accidents, making targeted safety messaging essential for local motorists and travelers.
During the interactive session, army personnel emphasized the vital importance of following traffic regulations, maintaining vehicle fitness, avoiding over-speeding, and exercising heightened caution when navigating difficult terrain. Attendees were briefed on key preventive measures and practical driving habits designed to minimize accidents and protect all road users. Commuters actively participated in the programme, expressing gratitude for the initiative while sharing valuable safety insights and pledging their commitment to responsible driving along the high-altitude highway.
