Jammu and Kashmir Weather Update Forecasts Torrential Rains and Flash Flood Risks Through August 10

SRINAGAR, Aug 3 — The Srinagar Meteorological Centre has issued a fresh weather update for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers across many areas from August 3 to August 4, 2026.

These rainfall spells are most likely to occur during the late afternoon, evening, and early morning hours, with a strong possibility of localized heavy rainfall, brief intense showers, or torrential downpours in select districts.Unsettled weather conditions are expected to persist across the region over the coming week.

From August 5 to August 7, light to moderate rain or thundershowers will continue at many locations, accompanied by brief intense spells in isolated pockets. The intensity is anticipated to decrease gradually between August 8 and August 10, when scattered areas may experience light rain or thundershowers alongside occasional intense showers.

In light of the predicted weather patterns, the meteorological department has issued an advisory warning of heavy rainfall in parts of the Jammu division on August 3 and August 4. Authorities warn that torrential rains and sudden intense downpours could trigger flash floods and landslides in vulnerable locations across Jammu and Kashmir over the next five days, urging residents and travelers to exercise caution.
