J&K LG Manoj Sinha Launches Dr AH Shah’s Book ‘Sharda to Sansad’ in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 02 — Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended the official launch of the book “Sharda to Sansad,” authored by Dr A.H. Shah, in Srinagar. Extending his congratulations to the author, LG Sinha described the work not merely as a historical chronicle, but as a meaningful dialogue bridging ancient civilizational heritage with modern democratic aspirations. He emphasized that literature and scholarship illuminate the human spirit, drawing a parallel between Sharda Peeth—the ancient seat of learning—and the Parliament of modern India, noting that if Sharda nurtured social wisdom, Parliament works to fulfill the nation’s collective aspirations.

Highlighting the rich cultural legacy and resilience of the Pahari community, LG Sinha commended their efforts in preserving their language, folklore, and traditions across centuries. He observed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the empowerment of the Pahari community and other marginalized groups following the abrogation of Article 370 marked a pivotal turning point in India’s democratic journey by aligning Jammu and Kashmir’s aspirations with the rest of the nation. Reaffirming that India’s historical strength lies in its intellectual confidence and tradition of dialogue, he urged scholars, teachers, artists, and citizens to actively document unwritten local histories, unstudied dialects, and folk songs to enrich the national archive. Addressing concerns raised by Zafar Iqbal Manhas, Chairman of the J&K Pahari Welfare Society, LG Sinha assured that a robust mechanism would be established to resolve issues caused by disruptive elements following the implementation of welfare laws. The event was attended by prominent literary figures, senior officials, and community leaders, including Dr Sajjad Shafi, Safina Baig, Khush Dev Maini, and Dr Jahangir Danish.
