NIA files chargesheet against nine accused including two Pakistani nationals in Sirsa police station attack case

NEW DELHI, May 26, 2026 — The National Investigation Agency has filed a chargesheet against nine individuals, including two Pakistani nationals, for their involvement in the November 2025 grenade attack on the women police station in Sirsa, Haryana.

The chargesheet, submitted before the Special National Investigation Agency Court in Panchkula, includes relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhit, and the Explosive Substances Act.

The probe identified the Pakistani handlers as Shahzad Bhatti and Sohail Ahmad, also known as Sohail Baloch, while the arrested Indian operatives include Dheeraj, Vikas, Sandeep, Vikas, Sushil, Md. Sijaan, and Gurjant Singh.

The investigation revealed that the attack was part of a larger conspiracy masterminded by Pakistani gangster-turned-terrorist Shahzad Bhatti to create panic by targeting Indian police establishments. Shahzad Bhatti and Sohail Ahmad reportedly used social media and encrypted communication channels to recruit and radicalize local operatives.

Shahzad Bhatti set up operational modules within India and appointed Dheeraj as his main domestic operative to coordinate the strikes. The accused selected the Sirsa women police station after conducting reconnaissance, and Gurjant Singh procured the grenade from Amritsar, Punjab, for the execution.

The perpetrators also filmed the attack on a mobile phone to publicize the act and remained in close contact with their cross-border handlers throughout.

The federal agency is currently tracking down the remaining absconding suspects while continuing to probe deeper financial and foreign links.
