Kathua police solve blind murder case within 24 hours with arrest of suspect
KATHUA, May 08 — In a swift and decisive operation, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kathua have solved a blind murder case within 24 hours of the crime, leading to the arrest of one suspect and the recovery of the weapon used.
The investigation began after authorities received reports on May 06 that two teenage brothers, Nakul Singh and Nikhil Singh, were found in a pool of blood at their residence in Ward Number 10.
While Nakul Singh was declared brought dead at the hospital, his younger brother Nikhil remains in critical condition and has been moved to AIIMS Vijaypur for advanced medical care.
Following the incident, a specialized police team secured the crime scene and discovered that the older brother’s iPhone was missing. Through a combination of technical analysis by the Electronic Surveillance Unit and detailed questioning of several suspects, investigators identified Parth Verma, a resident of Ward Number 09, as the primary suspect.
During interrogation, Verma confessed to the crime and led police to the recovery of the stolen mobile phone in the presence of a magistrate. The suspect revealed that a violent scuffle broke out at the house over a personal dispute involving a mutual love interest.
According to his statement, the argument escalated until Verma allegedly used a cricket bat found in the room to strike Nakul Singh. When the younger brother, Nikhil, entered the home shortly after, the accused reportedly attacked him as well to prevent being identified before fleeing the scene.
The victims were later discovered by their mother upon her return from work. Police have seized the cricket bat as evidence and are continuing further legal proceedings to ensure a thorough prosecution of the case.
