Kathua Police arrest drug peddler and seize heroin under Nasha Mukt Abhiyan

Kathua, July 18, 2026: Continuing its intensive crackdown on narcotics under the ongoing 100 days Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, the Kathua Police seized approximately 11 grams of a heroin-like substance near the Nagri Parole area.

Operating under the supervision of SSP Mohita Sharma, a police team led by the In-charge Police Post Nagri Parole intercepted a suspicious motorcycle during a special checking operation at the Trihara flyover. The rider, identified as Abhinandan Singh of Kootah Morh, Hiranagar, was arrested after the contraband was discovered in his possession.

The police team, guided by additional senior officers, seized both the narcotics and the motorcycle used in the crime. A case has been registered at the Kathua Police Station under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and further investigation is currently underway to trace the broader network.

Following the operation, the Kathua Police urged the public to actively share information regarding illegal drug activities through their confidential helplines to help eliminate the drug menace from the region.
