General Anil Chauhan releases military memoir Ek Sainik Ki Diary in Jaipur

JAIPUR, May 9, 2026 — General Anil Chauhan, the Chief of Defence Staff, released a new book titled Ek Sainik Ki Diary (1943–1971) Hony Capt Mohar Singh Bainsla during a ceremony at the South Western Command Headquarters in Jaipur.

The event was attended by a distinguished gathering of military veterans, civil dignitaries, and senior officers. Authored by Sunita Bainsla, a retired IRS officer, the book is based on the personal diary of Honorary Captain Mohar Singh Bainsla of the 3 Rajput Battalion, providing a detailed first-hand account of nearly thirty years of service.

The memoir offers a unique perspective on defining periods in Indian history, covering the veteran’s experiences during the 1947-48 conflict as well as the 1962 and 1965 wars.

While addressing the audience, General Chauhan praised the initiative to preserve such a significant piece of military history.

He noted that the diary captures the daily realities of a soldier’s life, including their hardships, professional integrity, and deep-rooted patriotism.

The publication serves as a lasting tribute to the courage and enduring spirit of the Indian Defence Forces.
