J&K LoP Sunil Sharma Slams Farooq Abdullah over Remarks Against BJP, Asserts Article 370 ‘Is History’
SRINAGAR — Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma, launched a scathing attack on National Conference (NC) President Dr. Farooq Abdullah, terming his recent critical comments against the BJP as “highly irresponsible” and politically motivated.
Addressing reporters, Sharma held regional parties, particularly the National Conference, historically accountable for fostering an atmosphere of terrorism and separatism in the union territory. He asserted that decades of misgovernance and regional politics under NC’s influence had pushed Jammu and Kashmir into instablity, whereas the current central administration has successfully contained terrorist activities and dismantled separatist networks in recent years.
Sharma strongly condemned statements from NC leaders linking the restoration of statehood with security conditions, calling such narratives counterproductive. Reaffirming the party’s stance on the constitutional changes made in 2019, the Leader of Opposition declared that Article 370 is permanently a thing of the past, adding that “no power on Earth” can restore the abrogate special status. He urged regional political entities to accept the current constitutional reality and focus on peace, governance, and development across Jammu and Kashmir.
