Farooq Abdullah Blames BJP for Kashmir Crisis, Demands Public Exposure of Terror Attackers

ANANTNAG, AUGUST 2 — Holding the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) directly responsible for the deteriorating security conditions in Kashmir, National Conference president and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah sharply criticized the Union government’s claims of normalcy in the region. Speaking to media persons in Bijbehara, Anantnag, the veteran leader challenged the administration’s narrative following recent violence, demanding full accountability and transparency regarding the infiltration of terrorists. Abdullah questioned how attacks continue to occur if border security is as tight as claimed, insisting that the government must first identify the perpetrators behind the recent killings and bring them before the public rather than hiding behind claims of improvement.

Reiterating that the violent targeting of innocent citizens can never resolve the region’s complex issues, Abdullah pointedly targeted the government’s post-Article 370 narrative. He noted that despite repeated assurances from the central government that the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019 would restore peace and stability, the reality on the ground paints a vastly different picture. When asked who bears the blame for the recent escalation in tension, the former Chief Minister unequivocally singled out the ruling party, stating that the BJP’s policies have completely ruined Kashmir and destroyed its socio-political fabric.
