BJP Should Apologise to J&K People for Not Restoring Statehood: Nasir Aslam Wani
SRINAGAR AUGUST 02— Advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Nasir Aslam Wani, has demanded an apology from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for reneging on its commitment to reinstate statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. Wani highlighted that the BJP had explicitly pledged during its assembly election campaign to restore statehood to the region.
However, he noted that the party’s recent assertions—claiming statehood will not be restored under the tenure of the National Conference-led government—mark a sharp departure from its earlier promises to the public. Addressing separate queries regarding a potential Cabinet expansion, Wani clarified that no timeline has been established yet, emphasizing that the final decision rests solely with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on who will be inducted into the Cabinet.
