Ladakh gets new modern futsal court at Thiksey learning center

LEH, July 3, 2026 — Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena inaugurated a new modern futsal court at the Learning Center in Thiksey today. The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of Thiksey Rinpoche, marking a significant step toward boosting sports infrastructure in the high-altitude region.

The newly built facility measures 40 meters by 20 meters and is part of an ongoing initiative to empower local youth and foster a vibrant sports culture across Ladakh.The newly inaugurated futsal court is equipped with high-quality artificial turf, designed to give young athletes consistent, year-round opportunities to train and compete.

Authorities emphasized that training in Ladakh’s unique high-altitude environment helps players build exceptional resilience, discipline, and teamwork. This sports facility aims to provide the region’s youth with the resources needed to excel and prepare them to compete effectively on both national and international platforms.
