New Boating Facility Launched at Tawi River Front to Enhance Amarnath Yatra Experience
JAMMU, JULY 03, 2026 — As the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026 gathers momentum with thousands of pilgrims arriving daily, Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) has officially inaugurated a highly anticipated boating facility at the Tawi River Front. The new recreational service was formally launched by Dr. Devansh Yadav, Chief Executive Officer of JSCL and Commissioner of the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), alongside senior district administration officials and members of the public. This initiative marks a major milestone under the Smart Cities Mission, transforming the Tawi River Front into a vibrant urban destination while offering visitors a unique way to experience the area’s scenic beauty. Highlighting Jammu’s role as the gateway to the holy cave shrine, Dr. Yadav emphasized that the safe and memorable boating service is designed to enrich the overall stay of lakhs of visiting devotees while aligning with the city’s vision of blending world-class urban infrastructure with environmental sustainability and tourism.
Following the inaugural ceremony, the first batch of pilgrims and locals took to the water, expressing enthusiastic appreciation for what many described as a refreshing addition to Jammu’s local tourism landscape. Operating daily from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM starting July 3, the facility offers 15-minute sessions priced at Rs 100 per person, with a diverse fleet that includes paddle boats, rafts, motorboats, and traditional shikaras. To streamline the experience, JSCL has introduced an online booking portal at tawiboating.myjammu.in, allowing tourists to reserve slots in advance. Stringent safety measures have also been implemented, including mandatory life jackets, trained operators, dedicated rescue personnel, and continuous monitoring to ensure a secure environment. The addition of boating further elevates the transformed Tawi River Front, which already boasts landscaped promenades, cycling tracks, musical fountains, and modern public amenities, solidifying its status as a premier leisure destination.
