AWANTIPORA, JULY 03, 2026 — In a major crackdown on anti-national elements and narcotics smuggling, the Awantipora Police have booked a terror associate under the Public Safety Act (PSA) and a habitual drug trafficker under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act.

The terror associate, identified as Suhail Farooq Lone (also known as Sahba Farooq Ahmad Lone) of Lone Mohalla Nigeenpora Reshipora, Tral, was taken into custody following formal detention orders from the competent authority and has been lodged in District Jail Bhaderwah. According to officials, Lone was actively providing logistics, shelter, and transportation to active terrorist outfits in the region. Despite multiple prior preventive measures, his persistent activities threatened state security, making his preventive detention necessary.

Simultaneously, the police targeted the region’s drug menace by detaining a notorious, habitual drug peddler identified as Manzoor Ahmad Mir (alias Mana Tiger), a resident of Kadlabal Pampore. Mir, who faces multiple registered NDPS cases, was booked under the PIT NDPS Act and subsequently lodged in Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu. Authorities stated that Mir was heavily involved in smuggling and supplying contraband to the local youth across Pampore and the wider Awantipora police district, posing a severe threat to society.

Reaffirming their commitment to public safety, the Jammu and Kashmir Police emphasized that these stringent legal actions are part of an ongoing mission to dismantle terror networks and eradicate drug abuse. Officials have urged the general public to continue supporting law enforcement by reporting any suspicious activities related to terrorism or narcotics.
