Indian Army and Ladakh communities join hands for plastic free environment on International Plastic Bag Free Day

NYOMA, July 3, 2026:- Troops under the aegis of the Snow Leopard Brigade recently partnered with local communities to organize extensive awareness and cleanliness drive’s across Nyoma, Nidder, and Mudh.

The initiatives were held in celebration of International Plastic Bag Free Day, emphasizing the timeless wisdom that those who remain balanced in their habits and actions ultimately attain true harmony.

As part of the campaign, an environmental awareness and oath-taking ceremony was hosted at the Government Higher Secondary School in Nyoma. During the event, students, teachers, and local residents came together to pledge their commitment to keeping their surroundings plastic-free.

Participants actively resolved to reduce their reliance on single-use plastics, directly contributing to the long-term preservation of the pristine environment of Ladakh.This collaborative effort highlights the ongoing partnership between the Indian Army and the people of Ladakh in promoting environmental responsibility.

By working hand in hand, the military and local citizens continue to take proactive steps to safeguard and protect the fragile Himalayan ecosystem for future generations.
