Amarnath Yatra 2026 registration guidelines issued for pilgrims travelling to Jammu and Kashmir
SRINAGAR, July 3, 2026 — The administration has issued an important advisory for pilgrims undertaking the Amarnath Yatra, emphasizing mandatory compliance with the daily ceiling limit fixed by the Supreme Court. The restriction on the maximum number of daily pilgrims allowed on the route is being enforced strictly to ensure public safety and the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
While advance registration was made available nationwide through banks and online channels, authorities noted that Tatkal on-spot registration slots are now extremely limited.Pilgrims are strongly requested to arrive in Jammu and Kashmir only after securing their advance registration, as the administration cannot accommodate thousands of unregistered arrivals under the current Tatkal capacity.
Unregistered travellers already in the region are being asked to wait for their turn and travel only when officially permitted. Furthermore, officials have observed many registered pilgrims arriving ahead of their scheduled slots. The administration clarified that no pilgrim will be allowed to proceed before their designated travel date, and everyone must strictly adhere to their assigned schedule.
Every intending pilgrim is assured an opportunity to undertake the Amarnath Yatra, provided they follow the prescribed procedures and respect the established capacity limits. The administration has urged all visitors to maintain order and cooperate fully with on-ground officials to guarantee a safe and well-regulated journey for everyone.
