EOW Kashmir files chargesheet against four for using fake degrees to get health department jobs
SRINAGAR, JULY 2, 2026 — The Economic Offences Wing Kashmir of Crime Branch Jammu and Kashmir has filed a formal chargesheet against four individuals accused of securing government jobs in the Health Department using forged educational certificates.
The chargesheet related to FIR No. 16/2014 was produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate in Srinagar under Sections 420, 468, and 471 of the Ranbir Penal Code. The accused have been identified as Shuja Jeelani, resident of Channapora Srinagar, Mohd Iqbal, resident of Channapora Srinagar, Nisar Ahmad Wani, resident of Pulwama, and Riyaz Ahmad Shah, resident of Awantipora Pulwama.
The case originated from a complaint alleging that four candidates chosen by the Services Selection Recruitment Board for various positions within the Health Department used fraudulent documentation to gain employment.
Subsequent verification confirmed that the educational testimonials submitted by the suspects were fake and did not match official records, which led to the immediate cancellation of their selections. The investigation proved that the individuals dishonestly obtained government employment through these forged papers, effectively cheating the state authorities.
Following the development, the Economic Offences Wing urged the public to stay vigilant against economic fraudsters and report suspicious activities to the Senior Superintendent of Police, EOW Kashmir, or via the official department email.
