LG Ladakh Vinai Kumar Saxena Briefs Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ecological Challenges and Water Security Solutions

LEH, June 26, 2026 — Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Vinai Kumar Saxena shared on X that he held an engaging and fruitful interaction yesterday with the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs during their official visit to Ladakh.

The high-level committee, chaired by Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor, inquired extensively about the key regional challenges confronting Ladakh and the strategic efforts being undertaken to resolve them. During the briefing, Vinai Kumar Saxena highlighted the region’s highly fragile ecosystem, emphasizing the critical environmental challenges and severe water scarcity faced by local communities.

He further outlined the proactive steps being implemented by the administration to tackle these pressing issues, including Project Him Sarovar, the construction of Rock Check Dams under the Sindhu Jal Samridhi Abhiyan, and massive plantation drives across the territory. The committee expressed its deep appreciation for these environmental initiatives and assured full cooperation moving forward.
