First International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled for September

SRINAGAR, JUNE 03 — The government has sanctioned the organization of the first International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir, which will take place at SKICC Srinagar and other prominent destinations from September 7 to 11, 2026.
This landmark initiative is designed to position Jammu and Kashmir as a vibrant destination for cinema, culture, and creative industries. The prestigious international event will be organized by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation.
The festival serves as a major platform to showcase cinematic excellence, promote cultural exchange, and highlight the immense potential of the region as a preferred destination for film production and tourism.The festival will bring together filmmakers, producers, directors, actors, industry experts, critics, and cinema enthusiasts from across India and abroad.
The scheduled events include screenings of acclaimed national and international films, panel discussions, master classes, interactive sessions, cultural programs, and networking opportunities for entertainment sector stakeholders.
Additionally, the initiative is expected to provide significant exposure to local talent, encourage emerging filmmakers, and create collaboration avenues between the regional film fraternity and the global cinema industry, reinforcing the growing reputation of the area as a hub for filmmaking.
This maiden edition of the international film festival marks a significant milestone in the cultural calendar of the Union Territory. It is expected to contribute substantially to the promotion of tourism, creative industries, youth engagement, and economic activity tied to the film sector.
