Baramulla police arrest woman under Public Safety Act for anti-national activities

Srinagar, June 3 — Police in Baramulla executed a detention warrant under the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act against a woman identified as Haseena Begum, a resident of Sheeri in the Narvaw tehsil of Baramulla district. The action is part of an ongoing effort to maintain public order and security in the region.

The detention order was issued by the District Magistrate of Baramulla on May 30, 2026, following a comprehensive assessment of her involvement in activities deemed prejudicial to the security of Jammu and Kashmir. Officials stated that the decision comes after a history of her participation in actions that threaten regional stability.

The detained individual is linked to multiple criminal cases involving unlawful and anti-national activities. Her record includes several First Information Reports registered across different police stations, including Handwara, Bandipora, and Sopore, with charges ranging from unlawful activities prevention laws to sabotage and attempted murder.

Investigations into these cases revealed a consistent association with anti-national elements intent on disrupting public peace.Following the execution of the warrant, she was taken into preventive custody and transferred to the District Jail in Bhaderwah under tight security.

Authorities emphasized that this move underscores their commitment to challenging any individuals or groups targeting the peace and security of the district, promising continued legal actions to ensure public safety.
