Jammu Drug Awareness Campaign: Police Launch Anti-Narcotics Drive in Old City Under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan
JAMMU, June 3, 2026: As part of its sustained efforts to eradicate the menace of drug abuse and promote a healthy, responsible, and drug-free society, the District Police Jammu organized a comprehensive Drug Awareness Programme today in the Purani Mandi and Parade areas of Old City Jammu. Conducted under Jammu Police’s ongoing anti-drug campaign, the event witnessed a large turnout, including senior law enforcement officials, students, teachers, community leaders, and members of the general public. Prominent attendees included Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Joginder Singh, the Superintendent of Police (SP) City North, and the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) City North, alongside several other officers from the district police department.
The primary objective of the initiative was to educate the public, with a specific focus on the youth, regarding the devastating impacts of drug addiction while fostering collective community action against substance abuse. Throughout the awareness session, resource persons and police officers detailed the severe physical, psychological, social, and economic consequences that stem from drug dependency. Attendees were thoroughly sensitized on the importance of making informed life decisions, resisting negative peer pressure, and seeking immediate, professional assistance when dealing with addiction.
Addressing both the gathered audience and media personnel, SSP Jammu Joginder Singh underscored that community participation is vital to winning the fight against narcotics. He called upon parents, educational institutions, and civil society organizations to collaborate transparently with law enforcement agencies to identify vulnerable individuals and halt the spread of drug abuse among the younger generation. The SSP also outlined the various proactive measures being rolled out under the state’s anti-drug campaign, reaffirming the department’s unwavering commitment to executing strict legal action against drug peddlers and traffickers. Simultaneously, he emphasized that rehabilitation, counseling, and ongoing public awareness remain core pillars necessary to help recovering individuals successfully reintegrate into society. The event concluded with a collective pledge and a unified appeal to all local stakeholders to join hands in building a safe, healthy, and drug-free environment.
