Vice Admiral Vineet McCarty takes over as Commander-in-Chief of Andaman and Nicobar Command

PORT BLAIR, June 1 — Vice Admiral Vineet McCarty assumed command of the Andaman and Nicobar Command as the 20th Commander-in-Chief today.

To mark the occasion, the newly appointed chief laid a wreath at the war memorial and subsequently reviewed a combined services Guard of Honour at the strategic tri-service operational command headquarters.

As a highly experienced flag officer, McCarty has a distinguished career that includes commanding frontline warships and the Western Fleet.

He has also held critical leadership roles across the armed forces, serving as the Commandant of the Indian Naval Academy, India’s Defence Adviser to Singapore, and the Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff for Doctrine, Organisation, and Training, where he contributed significantly to maritime security and joint capability development.
