Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan retires after satisfying tenure and pays tribute at National War Memorial
NEW DELHI, May 30, 2026 :- Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan bid farewell to military service upon reaching superannuation, marking his final day in uniform with a series of ceremonial events.
To honor his tenure, he received a grand tri-services Guard of Honour from the Indian Armed Forces and the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff at the National War Memorial in New Delhi.Following the ceremony, General Anil Chauhan laid a wreath at the National War Memorial for the last time in uniform to salute the courage and supreme sacrifice of fallen heroes who died in the line of duty.
After paying his final tributes, the outgoing military chief was welcomed by friends, relatives, and well-wishers, a moment he described as a symbolic transition from active military service to civilian life.
Reflecting on his leadership role, General Anil Chauhan expressed deep gratitude to the three wings of the armed forces and described his tenure as highly satisfying and excellent. He added that receiving the tri-services Guard of Honour was a matter of great distinction as he officially bid farewell to his colleagues in uniform and fellow comrades-in-arms.
