Indian Coast Guard and Gujarat ATS seize cocaine worth 1150 crore near Mundra

MUNDRA, May 27, 2026 — In a major breakthrough against international maritime narcotics smuggling, the Indian Coast Guard, in a joint operation with the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad, seized approximately 115 kilograms of cocaine off the Mundra coast.

The contraband, valued at an estimated 1,150 crore, was intercepted during the night of May 25 and 26. Acting on precise intelligence inputs, an Indian Coast Guard interceptor boat successfully recovered five bags of the illegal substance that had been jettisoned into the sea from the merchant vessel MV Europe under low-visibility conditions.

The targeted vessel has been detained and remains under detailed investigation by the Indian Coast Guard, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad, and allied security agencies to uncover the broader smuggling network.

This operation marks the 15th successful joint anti-narcotics crackdown by these agencies over the last five years. The high-profile seizure underscores the ongoing commitment of national maritime security forces to combat drug trafficking and safeguard the country’s maritime borders against transnational crime syndicates.
